School after School

Tutoring Program

Summerbridge continues to provide academic support to students during the school year with the School After School program. Monday through Thursday, Summerbridge students come to University High School for hour-long tutoring sessions beginning at 4:00pm. Students are paired with a tutor for the semester. Tutors are University High School students who have been trained by the Summerbridge staff and receive ongoing support in their role as tutors. While tutoring is optional, Summerbridge students are highly encouraged to participate; any student receiving below a B- in a class is required to attend tutoring.

Enrichment Course Program 

Summerbridge offers two academic enrichment courses one in Math and one in English. These classes will be taught by professional educators with the assistance of high school teaching assistants. These classes will continue the curriculum of the summer program and challenge students
in each subject area. All current Summerbridge students must take one class per semester. Classes are held Tuesday- Thursday from 4:30-6:00 p.m.

If you are currently an San Francisco University High School student who has completed the first semester of his/her sophomore year in high school and are interested in becoming a tutor, please contact Summerbridge. Tutors are eligible to receive community service credit by participating in the tutoring program.

Calendar for Tutoring and Enrichment Classes Winter/Spring 2010

Tutoring begins each Monday- Thursday at 4:00pm.  Students are welcome to arrive at earlier to do homework and for snacks.
