  • Fluency in written and oral communications
  • Ability to formulate problems and solutions, make decisions and follow a plan through to completion
  • Appreciation and respect for diversity and for opposing points of view
  • Concern for others, and respect for teamwork and collaboration
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and a capacity to learn from one's errors
  • An aesthetic sense and participation in creative expression
  • Pursuit of personal health and physical and mental well-being through exercise and athletics
  • Understanding the importance of making choices to achieve balance among one's activities

The School is committed to the welfare and development of the total student, to his or her emotional, moral, physical and social, as well as intellectual growth. We seek to maintain a nurturing and supportive learning environment, characterized by warmth, friendliness, and a spirit of equity and inclusion, which is sensitive to issues of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background. We endeavor to balance seriousness and fun. While emphasizing the aspiration of community, we seek to accommodate individual student needs as well as to foster mutual respect, a sense of humor, and the joy of life. A city school, we wish to reflect, learn from, and contribute to the richness of our urban environment.
