AFFORDING UHS
Since our founding, UHS has maintained a community of equity and excellence by admitting students of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and talents regardless of their financial means. We award grants to our students each year based upon their family's demonstrated need and the school's available funds. This year, 22% of our student body will receive $2.1 million in financial aid.
Tuition
For the 2010-2011 school year, tuition is $32,750.
Payment Plans
UHS offers
two payment plans:
- Standard
Payment Plan – 60% of tuition is due by June 15 and
the balance is due by December 15.
- Ten Month Payment Plan – Tuition is paid in installments on the fifteenth of each month from April through January. There is a
$50 enrollment fee. You can indicate your choice for this interest-free payment plan on your enrollment contract. All families receiving financial aid
will be automatically enrolled in the Ten Month Payment Plan.
How to Apply for Financial Aid
Please check the appropriate box on the inquiry form if you plan to apply for financial aid. All financial aid materials must be sent to School and Student Services (SSS) by NAIS.

By January 13, 2011:
- UHS Financial Aid Application (available November 1, 2010).
- Parents' Financial Statement (PFS). As early as November 1, 2010, you can complete the PFS at the SSS website at sss.nais.org. Contact SSS customer service at (800) 344-8328 for answers to questions about completing the PFS. If you need a hard
copy of the PFS, or if you cannot afford the SSS application fee, please
contact the Office of Admission at (415) 447-3100.
- 2009 Federal Income Tax Return. Send a signed photocopy with all pages and all schedules.
- 2009 Form W-2/1099.
- 2010 Form W-2/1099.
- (Business Farm Supplement. Only for parents/guardians who are self-employed or owns a business or farm.)
- (Most Recent Business Tax Return. Send a signed photocopy with all pages and all schedules of Forms 1065, 1120, or 1120s, as well as any K-1, as applicable.)
- IRS Form 4506-T. Signed and undated; one for each tax return provided.
By February 14, 2011:
- 2010 Federal Income Tax Return. Send a signed photocopy with all pages and all schedules.
Please send all materials to SSS with the cover sheet that is produced when you complete the PFS.
For divorced or separated parents, a separate PFS and supporting materials must be submitted for each household.
